Celebrating the First ECAP Values Session: Embracing Individual Worth in Our Shared Mission

March 23, 2026 marked a significant milestone for our global Good Shepherd community the first ECAP Values Session, a transformative gathering rooted in reflection, connection, and the living tradition of the Good Shepherd.

Bringing together Sisters and Partners in Mission from across the world, the session deepened our shared understanding and embodiment of the congregation’s core values: Individual Worth, Mercy, Reconciliation, and Zeal. This first session forms part of an ongoing formation journey for ECAP Mission Partners on the mission, charism, and spirituality of the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd, a collaboration that has been underway since 2024.

In 2026, the Mission Development Office, in partnership with the USA/Toronto Region, is facilitating a series of four Values Sessions each dedicated to exploring one core value (Individual Worth, Mercy, Reconciliation, and Compassion) creating intentional space for reflection, learning, and practical integration into mission and ministry

Honoring Individual Worth in Community

From the very beginning, participants’ presence and wholehearted engagement created an atmosphere charged with respect, openness, and a shared desire to grow. This collective spirit became a living expression of Individual Worth evident in every moment of attentive listening, every voice courageously shared, and every space gently held for one another.

The dignity of each person was not only recognized but celebrated.

Enriched by Shared Wisdom

The session was deeply enriched by the reflections of Lizzie, Melinda, Sr. Barbara, and Angela, whose thoughtful preparation and spiritual insight illuminated the path set by St. Mary Euphrasia and St. John Eude

Through their storytelling and guidance, they invited us to rediscover the roots of our mission and to embody our values in daily action.

Their leadership served as a powerful reminder that Individual Worth is more than an ideal it is a call to action: to create spaces where every person is seen, heard, and empowered to grow.

Continuing the Journey Together

As we move forward from this meaningful gathering, we are reminded that the mission of the Good Shepherd comes alive through our actions,

attitudes, and relationships. Our shared commitment to co-responsibility and our willingness to journey together strengthen our capacity to respond to the needs of our world with compassion, courage, and unwavering respect for human dignity.

May the insights and connections forged in this first ECAP Values Session inspire us to nurture a culture of justice, care, and belonging. As we continue to reflect on our core values, let us carry the light of Individual Worth into every encounter confident that, together, we advance a mission of hope and transformation.

With Gratitude

To all who participated and contributed thank you for the spirit, wisdom, and love you brought to this first ECAP Values Session. We look forward with anticipation and courage to the ongoing journey of reflection and action that lies ahead.
